Safe Haven is about more than empowering the community to help the children. Safe Haven is also committed to empowering the children directly. We connect children in the foster care system to programs that will strengthen them and give them a head start on a better future.
Strengthening Programs
HeartReach Cards is a Butler County-based program that enables children in need to benefit from their artwork. Providing cards to be used by dentists, optometrists, veterinarians, and for commercial products, HeartReach Cards provides a mechanism for professionals and the community to contribute to the future of a child in need. All money earned by a child is provided to them on their 18th birthday, giving them a financial head start as they transition into adulthood.
Fostering Music is a charitable organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children currently in, or adopted out of, the foster care system, by providing musical instruments and quality music instruction in conjunction with local music stores. By partnering with local foster care agencies, we are able to identify the children in Western Pennsylvania with the greatest need.
WiseGuides is a new Butler County-based program that connects local youths with seniors to teach them how to utilize and become comfortable with technology. Not only does this greatly benefit our senior community, it creates a strong sense of value and empowerment within the youth volunteers. Additionally, cross-generational bonds, relationships and respect are created and nurtured through these valuable interactions.
Fishing For Memories’ (FFM) programs (begun in ’04) are designed to provide fun opportunities for children and youth, ages 5 to 17, to learn about fish identification and the responsible use and conservation of the environment. Also, FFM’s programs help them learn fishing skills and participate in cooperation-building activities. FFM continually strives to provide Western Pennsylvanian children/youth and their families an encouraging atmosphere to strengthen them one memory at a time.
