Respite foster care is a desperately needed service in Butler County. Respite care provides a safe and caring temporary space for children experiencing the trauma of removal from their home. Respite is also critical in providing temporary breaks for foster parents/families providing long-term placement for a children
YOU CAN PROVIDE RESPITE IF:
Thinking about becoming a foster parent? There is no better way to begin your journey into the foster care community than as a respite volunteer for the Isaiah 117 House. With streamlined training requirements and the support of a team of 40 other volunteers, you will learn how to support the needs of children entering the foster care system in a coordinated and beneficial way. Join us at the monthly meetings to learn more!
Independent respite foster parents are sorely needed in our county. Serving as a temporary, safe and caring first placement for a child after removal from their home, or being available to provide an occasional break for a family providing long-term foster care to a child is invaluable. The process to become a certified respite foster parent is the same as becoming a long-term placement foster parent. The only difference is in the time commitment you are able to make to the children. We are here to help you through the process by answering any questions you may have and through the organization of foster training sessions in coordination with the foster agencies who serve Butler County. NOTE: We are working with Butler County businesses to build a supply of items listed above to make sure new foster homes do not incur any cost to meet the guidelines!
